BIG Idea #1: Don't Rank Your WEBSITE... Rank Your BUSINESS!

The "Big Idea" about local search hacking is to take a ride on what other sites are doing to put THEMSELVES on the 1st page of Google.

Believe it or not, I stopped ALL my paid advertising online and ended up getting hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of business for FOUR YEARS before actually building a website for my screen repair business.

I'll say that again, not to brag but because this idea needs to be highlighted: for four years BEFORE having a website, my business was featured prominently all over the 1st page of Google.

It wasn't having a kickass website that put my name, address, phone, and offers on Google Page ONE... it was having a digital presence on other sites. Sites like Facebook.com, YouTube.com, Yelp.com, Fixr.com, Craigslist.com and more.

Check my Student, Nora Birt's dog training business. "Dog training monument" gives you:

Besides occupying the #1 and #2 slot on Page ONE, Nora is IN the "Best 30 Dog Training with Reviews" on YP.com ^. This is part of the Hack Local Search strategy, to build profiles all over the place

Scrolling down "Dog training monument" results we see her again on Page ONE:

So that's 5 times on Page ONE... out of 10 non-ad listings. 50% of the page is taken up by our hero, Nora!

Look at the results for a totally different keyword... "obedience classes Monument":

That's FOUR times on Google Page ONE for a totally different search.

Here's yet another search, by a person looking for recommendations... "best dog training Monument":

Notice that none of the listings ^ on either search is her actual website.

The others are purposefully crafted to live on OTHER sites... including Alignable.com, Thumbtack.com, and the local Chamber of Commerce.

Each of these sites... as well as Facebook.com, Craigslist.com, YouTube.com, et cetera... have their OWN agenda for spending their own time, resources and research to get on Google Page ONE... and they depend on YOU for their content. You are a most welcome hitchhiker.

A-HA!

So the point is this: don't get hung up on making your website rock and roll. Trust me, we'll get to that.

But for now, we want to get your business ranked by putting its vital information (and most important-- its offer!) all over the place.

And doing it for free.
